Brian Gallagher is Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Symmetrix Product Group for EMC Corporation, the world leader in information storage systems, software, networks, and services. With 2007 revenues of $13.23 billion, and more than 35,000 employees worldwide, EMC is the world leader in products, services and solutions for information storage and management that help organizations extract the maximum value from their information, at the lowest total cost, across every point in the information lifecycle.
Gallagher is directly responsible for the leadership of the Symmetrix Product Group which includes the architecture, design, development and support of all Symmetrix platforms and software applications. He is also a member of the senior leadership team for EMC’s Storage Division.
Gallagher is a 26-year veteran in the design and development of information storage products. He joined EMC in 1985 and led the systems engineering development efforts for numerous mid-range disk and tape products. From 1995 through 1997 he led the platform development of EMC’s Celerra File Server. He was promoted to Vice President of Symmetrix Hardware Engineering in 1997 and to Senior Vice President in 2000. In February, 2005 he was promoted to lead the entire Symmetrix Product Group including the Hardware, Software, QA and eLab organizations. This includes Mainframe and Open Systems host applications development for Symmetrix products.
Prior to joining EMC, Gallagher developed disk and tape storage products for Wang Laboratories’ VS Systems.
He received a BS in Electrical Engineering from Tufts University in 1982 and a MS in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in 1990. Gallagher also holds thirteen U.S. patents and has ten patents pending.
